The recent tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut, has spawned a legislative bill that would restrict public access to the records for any children under age 18. State Representative Mitch Bolinsky, a freshman Republican lawmaker from Newtown, testified to a state legislative committee Wednesday that legislators "need to do something." Newtown Town Clerk Debbie A. Aurelia testified that she would like the bill amended to restrict access to all death certificates, not just those where the deceased was under the age of 18.
