You are invited to the EOGN Genealogists' Dinner!
This will be held at 7:00 PM, immediately after the close of the RootsTech 2013 Conference in Salt Lake City, on March 23.
Join us for dinner! You are invited to join other genealogists on Saturday evening after the RootsTech 2013 conference for dinner. Rumor has it there will also be a few door prizes.
We will meet at the Radisson Hotel Salt Lake City Downtown between 6:30 and 7:00 pm on March 23, shortly after the close of the RootsTech conference. You are invited to join us for an informal gathering before dinner when the bar opens at 6:30 pm. Dinner will be served at 7:00.
The location is a very short walk from the conference site. In fact, even wheelchairs will be able to travel the very short distance from the convention center to the dinner location. We have a reserved banquet room at the Radisson. It will be a genealogists-only evening!
Dinner will be buffet style and you can sit with friends or not, as you wish. A cash bar will also be available.
The agenda is simple: there isn't one. There will be no presentations, no programs, and little of anything else in the way of organization. This is a chance to sit with friends, even new-found friends, and to relax over a meal and discuss genealogy.
If you know anyone who has ever attended a previous EOGN Dinner, ask them if they enjoyed it.
We will meet at the Radisson Hotel Salt Lake City Downtown, the same location as last year's dinner. It is convenient, has a lot of room for us, and last year's meal was delicious.
The menu will be buffet style, including:
-
Assorted Rolls with Sweet Cream Butter
- Dried Cranberries and Balsamic Vinaigrette
- Mixed Greens with Candied Pecans Dried Cranberries and
- Balsamic Vinaigrette
- Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes
- Wild Rice Blend
- Grilled Salmon Filet in Fresh Lemon Dill Cream Sauce
- Stuffed Chicken Breast with Ricotta, Spinach, and Artichokes
- Thin Sliced New York Sirloin with Mushroom Bordelaise
- Carved Prime Rib of Beef
- Chef Choice Desserts
- Freshly Brewed Regular and Decaffeinated Starbucks Coffee
- Selection of Specialty Tazo Teas
Last year, almost everyone commented on the good food served by the Radisson.
Like past EOGN dinners, reservations are required. In fact, you will need to make a reservation online and print out your ticket(s) before you attend the conference. Only those with tickets will be admitted.
Unlike past EOGN dinners, payment must be made in advance. The charge is $45 and payment may be made with a credit card. The $45 charge includes everything at dinner except for sodas and alcoholic beverages. Those will be available at the cash bar.
OK, here's how to attend the dinner:
You absolutely MUST have a reservation in advance. No exceptions. In fact, you need to make the reservation online and then print your own ticket(s) on your printer and bring the ticket(s) with you. If you don't have a printer available, please let me know. I will have a list of attendees with me. If you don't have your printed ticket, I can check on your status. Having a printed ticket with you simply gets you admitted a few seconds earlier with no delays.
If you are bringing a spouse or other invited guest, make sure you make a reservation for everyone in your party. It will be embarrassing to tell your spouse that you are going out to dinner with others while your spouse is left alone in the hotel room because "you forgot!" If there are two of you, you need two tickets.
Past experience has shown that these reservations fill up quickly. However, if we don't fill the reservation list this time, reservations will close on Monday, March 19, at 9 AM Mountain time. I have to call the restaurant and give them an exact final headcount that morning. There will be no last-minute additions (unless someone cancels and you can obtain their ticket).
I'll see you at dinner. You could win a door prize. Bring your appetite!
