Burr Morse is a man I respect, and he wrote today about his experiences with dowsing. I have never met Burr in person, but Pam, the editor of this newsletter, has met Burr Morse through their mutual ancestry and has visited him at the Vermont farm where his family has lived for 200 years. She reports that he is a "no nonsense" kind of person. Having read his newsletters for several years, I can believe she is correct.
Burr writes a newsletter that promotes the maple syrup he produces at his farm. He also adds in lots of "down home" wisdom and occasional humor. He frequently writes about his experiences. Today, Burr wrote about his experiences with dowsing as well as the experiences of his wife and his late father. Burr said dowsing never worked for him, even though many around him could do it. After a change in personal philosophy, Burr recently tried dowsing again and was surprised when it worked for the first time ever!
You can read about Burr Morse's experience with dowsing at http://www.morsefarm.com/node/194. You'll also see a picture of Burr with crossed divining rods. (I admit the picture might be faked for the benefit of the photographer.) While there, look at his Maple products. Pam tells me they are excellent.
Is this the real secret of dowsing: attitude and outlook? Are non-believers doomed to a life of non-dowsing because of the thoughts in their own minds? I have no opinion on that, but it is an intriguing idea!
