During WWII, Glenn Husted took time to type a newsy update about his town, Sylvan Lake, Michigan, and then mail to his former students serving in the military at the front. Husted was rewarded for his efforts with 70 responses from grateful soldiers and sailors. Now, years after Husted’s death, Sylvan Lake historians are looking for people who might like their letters returned as keepsakes. Working over the past year, historians have found 18 veterans so far.
If your family is from the Sylvan Lake area, you will want to read the article by Carol Hopkins published in the Oakland Press at http://goo.gl/xtq7E.
