At 46, Crawford accepted an invitation to explore her ancestry on the show, thinking it would make a great topic for her middle school-age daughter in class, she said. Her father’s mom, a Hemingway, was in Minnesota but her great-great-great grandfather Frank Hemingway was born in New Hampshire. So it’s off to the New England Genealogical Society in Boston, where she finds she’s a distant cousin of a certain Hemingway who is more famous.
Her New England tree is traced back to Thomas Trowbridge, an idealistic Puritan reformer who left England and made the voyage to the New World in the 1600s.
