Relative History imports your genealogy information by using the industry-standard data interchange format, GEDCOM. Once imported, you can easily browse and search it. You can import multiple GEDCOM files and explore the connections between individuals, families and events, viewing associated images or other media files. However, Relative History for Windows 8 is a "read only" program. That is, you can view all your data but cannot edit it or change it in any way. You would use a different genealogy program in your desktop or laptop computer to make changes. It appears to be an ideal method of keeping your research information portable.
Please note that this release does not support editing of the data.
I haven't yet tried this program as I am presently in Massachusetts but left my Windows 8 laptop in Orlando. It does appear to be an updated version of Relative History - a Genealogy Program for Windows Phone that I wrote about last year at http://goo.gl/GDNfCW.
