I will be leaving tomorrow for the big Who Do You Think You Are? Live! event being held in London. (See my article above for details about the show.) I am taking a red-eye flight from Orlando, arriving in London in the morning. Assuming my hotel has a room available that early in the day, I expect to get some shuteye, then get up for a few hours, then go back to bed in the evening in an attempt to adjust to the timezone change. The bottom line is that I might not be writing newsletter articles for a couple of days.
Once the exhibit hall opens, I do plan to post daily articles, along with pictures, showing what I saw and heard. However, I know from past experiences that the Who Do You Think You Are? Live! event is always busy and events often last into the evening, long after the exhibit hall closes. The British have this wonderful invention called "pubs." You have to experience a few of them to understand. The result may be fewer daily articles than normal.
I will be carrying a tiny MacBook Air laptop, an iPad Mini, a U.K. cell phone with Internet connectivity, and the hotel I stay at provides free wi-fi in all guest rooms. (FREE wi-fi is a rarity in London hotels! Most London hotels charge outrageous fees for wi-fi connections.) I should be able to connect online.
To anyone who might ask: yes, I think I have recuperated from my recent surgery and don't think that will be an issue when traveling now that six weeks have passed. However, the wisdom tooth that was pulled last week remains a problem. I can barely eat. Oh well, I need to lose a few pounds anyway.
Uh, that is a reference to pounds, as in weight. I am not referring to British money. I know I'll "lose" (or spend) too much of that anyway!
If you are able to attend Who Do You Think You Are? Live!, please find me and say "hello." I would love to meet newsletter readers. I won't have a fixed base of operations. Instead, I will be wandering the exhibits hall and attending presentations, both to satisfy my own curiosity and also to obtain fodder for future newsletter articles.
