Evernote is one of my favorite applications. I typically use it several times a day on my smartphone and also often on the tablet and desktop computers. It works well for genealogy and for dozens of other purposes as well. (You can see my past articles about Evernote by starting at http://goo.gl/0LKIqd).
I noticed that Evernote has just released a major new update for Android tablets and cell phones. The item that caught my eye is that it now includes handwriting recognition. As Evernote puts it, “Sometimes there’s no better way to capture an idea than to write it down or sketch it out,” so that’s what we’ve got now.
This is the way we always predicted computers would operate someday in the future. It should be interesting to experiment with handwriting recognition. Every time I have tried to write a note in handwriting on a tiny screen, my penmanship has been terrible. Even I can't read it. How will an app be able to decode my scrawls?
