The Next Generation of Genealogy Sitebuilding (“TNG”) Version 11 Upgrade is now Available

The Next Generation of Genealogy Sitebuilding (“TNG”) version 11 upgrade is now available. This is a major upgrade, so unless you purchased the full version or the version 10 upgrade in the past 6 months, a small fee will be required ($14.99 for most).

According to the announcement from Darrin Lythgoe:

To purchase the upgrade, please go back to your previous downloads page (http://tng.lythgoes.net/downloads10 for version 10) and look for the payment options in the TNG Updates section. If you need the access information again, please reply to this message and I will resend it.

If you’re unsure about how to install the upgrade, I’ve recorded a short video that walks you through it:

If you still feel unsure of yourself, there’s an option on the downloads page for you to pay to have me install it for you ($15 extra for most). I’m happy to do that for you, but please take note that it may take me a few days to get to you while the release is new.

A summary of the most significant changes can be found here:

In addition, list of all the changes in v11 can be found here:

If you install the upgrade, please be careful to follow all the instructions, especially the one where it asks you to enter names for two new tables and click a link to have them created. If you miss that one, you will see error messages in several places around your site.

    No. They are very different.

TMG usually means The Master Genealogist, a now defunct genealogy program that was designed for Windows computers.

TNG stands for The Next Generation of Genealogy Sitebuilding, a genealogy program that can be installed on web servers (typically running Linux or UNIX) and can be used by individuals or groups. More information about TNG may be found at http://www.tngsitebuilding.com/
