Does This Photograph Belong to Your Family?

A woman rummaging through a box of post cards at an Olympia, Washington, flea market found a one-of-a-kind treasure Sunday: a beaming young couple captured in a black-and-white photograph. Kresta Duncan said she has no idea who it belongs to, but would love to reunite the photo with its rightful owners.

The photo most likely was taken in the 1940s. It was discovered in a shoe box full of photographs that seemed to range from the late 1800s to the early 1960s.

I believe the man’s uniform is European, the hat badge would be a good clue.

Alberta, Canada

The man is a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy. I think he is a Line officer, but I can’t be sure that the emblem on his shoulder boards is a star next to the two stripes. I can’t tell what ribbons he is wearing, but it looks like he is wearing two.

It is a US Navy uniform for a lieutenant.
